Beautiful Valley of Himachal Pradesh is covered with the surroundings of Punjab, J & K, Haryana, Uttaranchal and China. The state came into being on 15th April 1948 as Centrally administered territory and later in 1951, it became a part "C" state. Currently it is spread over 55673 Sq K.M with 12 districts and a population of 68.57 lacs (2011 Census(P)). It has 1527 bank branches of PSB, 2 RRB's, 4 Co-op Banks & 8 Pvt Sector Banks as on 31.12.2011. It has 83.78% literacy (2011 Census (P)) and 100% electrification. It is the first state in the country to achieve 100% financial inclusion.
